The problem of illegal migration has been an issue that has plagued the United States for decades, but over the last several years, this problem has increased tenfold. It is estimated that since the 2021 calendar year and the commencement of Joe Bidens first term as the 46th President of the United States over eight million illegal migrants have entered the country. A report by the outlet Axios has stated that the backlog of processing services for migrants in association with the federal government has reached over eight million. The crisis has worsened as the years have gone by, and the federal government has appeared unable to effectively mitigate this flow of foreigners. Biden has come under fire for his handling of the border issue, but ultimately much political attention and backlash has been focused upon the secretary of the department of homeland security Alejandro Mayorkas.
Mayorkas has recently stated that the administration has enforced immigration laws since the beginning of his tenure, using the words “day one” to describe the earliness of this enforcement. The flow of migrants into the country and the sheer staggering numbers of migrants that have overwhelmed America’s cities and states everywhere may prove this to be untrue.
Additionally, it appears that illegal migrants understand what is going on in the nation and seek to take advantage of the porous border. A report by the gateway pundit alleges that many migrants have been flooding the southern border because they are worried that in several months the former 45th President Donald Trump may once again achieve a victory in the general presidential election of 2024 and that the border will once again be closed. Two brothers from Colombia, illegal immigrants Ricardo and Sebastian, both aged 18 and 20 spoke to the New York Post after entering the nation. It appears the whole world knows that America’s border is wide open. Only time will tell what occurs.
