According to online gossip, A-list celebrity couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are on the verge of separating. Although the couple has been married for less than two years, reports indicate that Mr. Affleck has already moved out of their home, while Lopez is undertaking a lone publicity tour for her new movie. During a press conference in Mexico City, an audience member asked Lopez directly if the split rumors were true, and she replied, “You know better than that,” leaving observers guessing.

The actress furthermore attended the Met Gala in New York City in May without Affleck, fuelling more gossip about the couple’s relationship. Nevertheless, they attended their son’s Los Angeles basketball game together on June 2 and appeared to present a united front for photographers.

Observers say that the couple’s split could be difficult and complicated, given their success in blending their families from previous marriages. Together, they have five children, and both stars have reportedly bonded with the other’s sons and daughters, whose ages range from 12 to 18.

Some fans, meanwhile, suggest that the couple deliberately stokes split rumors to distract from Lopez’s cancellation of a music tour, which attracted poor ticket sales. Ms. Lopez announced a US-wide tour in February but changed its name and format two months later as entertainment publications reported struggling sales. By May, the tour was pulled, and the singer told fans the decision was “absolutely necessary” and she was sorry to let them down. Speculation then emerged that Lopez canceled the string of concerts to spend more time with her family.

The celebrity couple first met in 2001 when they starred together in the movie Gigli. Lopez divorced their husband, Chris Judd, and soon went public about her relationship with Affleck. They became engaged in 2002 and set a wedding date for the following year, which they later postponed. A year later, they went their separate ways and stayed apart until reuniting in 2021.
