Dave Grohl Admits to Infidelity and Fathering a Child Outside of Marriage

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has publicly confessed to cheating on his wife, Jordyn Blum, and fathering a daughter outside of their marriage. The 55-year-old rock star revealed the shocking news in a statement posted on Instagram, where he acknowledged the situation and expressed his commitment to supporting his new child.

In his statement, Grohl said, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

Grohl and Blum, 48, have been married since 2003 and share three daughters: Violet, 17, Harper, 14, and Ophelia, 9. The couple, often seen in public together, was last spotted attending Wimbledon in July 2023, just months before the news of Grohl’s infidelity became public.

Grohl, known for his image as a family man, has spoken in the past about the importance of his wife and children. In a 2012 interview with TIME, he reflected on how fatherhood had changed his life, saying, “When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting.”

However, this is not the first time Grohl has faced personal challenges related to infidelity. He divorced his first wife, Jennifer Leigh Youngblood, in 1997, after admitting to cheating.

While Jordyn Blum has kept a relatively low public profile, she has collaborated with Grohl and the Foo Fighters on several projects, including co-directing the band’s 2002 music video for “Walking a Line.” She also appeared in their video for “White Limo” that same year.

Despite the recent news, the couple has not publicly commented on the future of their marriage. Grohl’s confession comes at a time when he has been making headlines for other reasons. Earlier this summer, the musician stirred controversy when he made comments about pop superstar Taylor Swift, criticizing her performances during her “Eras Tour.” He joked with his audience during a Foo Fighters concert, referring to his band’s tour as the “Errors Tour,” implying that Swift doesn’t perform live, a remark that elicited boos from some fans.

On the political front, Grohl also made waves in August when he announced that any royalties from the unauthorized use of the Foo Fighters’ song “My Hero” at a Donald Trump rally would be donated to Kamala Harris’s campaign. The band stated they had not granted permission for the former president’s campaign to use their music and pledged to take “appropriate actions” in response.

As Grohl navigates this challenging time, it remains to be seen how his personal and professional life will be affected. With his admission of infidelity, the Foo Fighters frontman faces a new chapter, one that could reshape his public image and family life in the years to come.
