On Tuesday, June 25th, as she strolled through midtown Manhattan, a 58-year-old woman was assaulted by thugs with baseball bats. According to CCTV video, the assailants, who were clothed entirely in black, approached from behind as the victim leisurely checked her phone as she strolled down the street shortly after 2 p.m.
As seen in the video, the two masked men using baseball bats assaulted the woman. One of the men can be seen rushing up behind her and punching her in the back of the head.
She was reportedly slammed against the wall of a local business while her second assailant started beating her with a bat, with an accomplice trying to get her purse. Even though they tried, the assailants left with nothing before fleeing the scene. Damage to the victim’s left leg and swelling in her brain were treated at an area hospital.
The suspects were total strangers to the victim, and they are now being sought. There have been no arrests made. The police are asking anyone who has knowledge about the assailants or the event to come forward and help with the current investigation.
